Do you know that in just three days you can be a PADI Certified Diver.  The first day is divided into classroom and pool work and the second and third days are the four open water dives (two dives per day).

Just come in or register on line for the class and we will give you your Open Water Manual and DVD. Read the book, watch the video and then complete the knowledge reviews at the end of each chapter.  Once you have completed the homework assignments you are ready to take the class. We also offer the training materials on a CD Rom if you prefer to do all the work on your computer.

You can now do all the academic work, quizzes and final exam all on line in the comfort of your home..or anywhere with an internet connection. When you have completed the e-learning portion you then will only need to complete the water training with us to complete the class. * There is a class orientation the day before the class to be fitted for the SCUBA gear for the class. Any personal gear such as mask snorkel and fins can also be purchased at this time. Arrangements can be made if you cannot attend the orientation.

SCHEDULES

We offer many different schedules to accommodate our students. Our most popular class starts every Friday and finishes on Sunday. During the summer months we also offer classes Monday through Wednesday.
The first day of a typical class begins at South Beach Divers with the pool session. We use the Flamingo Resorts' waterfront swimming pool just a few minutes from the shop. All of the basics of scuba are learnt and mastered in the pool before you progress to the ocean. The pool session finishes around 2pm and then we break for lunch. The rest of the afternoon is spent reviewing your knowledge reviews and then we give you four simple quizzes and then the final exam (don't worry, it's multiple choice and if you get 100% we will give you a free t-shirt). If you did the E Learning program you are free to go after the pool session.

On Saturday you meet at South Beach Divers at 10:00 a.m. to depart for John Pennekamp Marine Sanctuary in Key Largo for the first two open water dives.  This location has the largest coral reef in North America and it is full of fish, turtles, corals and hundreds of species of marine life. It is definitely the highlight of the class. We are the only Miami Dive Center that includes two dives in Key Largo as part of the certification course.  Return time is 7:00 p.m.

On Sunday you meet at South Beach Divers at 7.30am or 12 noon (please refer to the schedule of the class you are selecting as to what time) to complete your final two open water dives off the coast of Miami Beach (yes, you do get to dive on one of over 60 shipwrecks).  Upon returning (and passing) you will be issued a temporary certification card so you can start diving right away.  We process your PADI certification card online so you will get your permanent license in as little as 7 days and it can be sent anywhere in the world.  You will also then be qualified to take the PADI Advanced class as well numerous specialty classes like Wreck Diver and Underwater Photographer.  All students that graduate will receive a $50 credit towards the next class if purchased within 30 days of completing with Open Water Class.

We also offer a one- weekend class for those that are not available weekdays. This class is available during the spring and summer months. The schedule is Saturday 7am-7pm for the pool and Open Water dives 1 and 2 in Key Largo and then Sunday from 12 noon to 5pm for the wreck dives in Miami.

The quickest and easiest way to get Scuba Certified

• Reservations are required.
• Classes are paid in full when enrolling.
• Must complete a student record file and student contract.
• Minimum age is for certification is 10, however, only a Junior Open Water License will be issued to those under 15.
• Those under 18 need a parent or guardians approval and signature..
• Must complete a medical form
• You must be able to swim 200 yards using any stroke or combination of stokes you choose and be able to tread water for 10 minutes.

The price of the course is $389.00 and includes text book, dive tables,class and pool work, boat fees, instructor fees, photo, certification card, transportation to and from the dive sites and all SCUBA rental gear (tanks, weights, BCD and regulator) with the exception of personal gear.   Personal gear is considered to be your mask, snorkel, fins and wetsuit* and those are available for sale at the shop.  Enrolled students get special discounts on merchandise!   We will meet or beat any legitimate authorized dealers prices on identical items. This does not include factory outlets or internet sites.
There is an additional $20 deposit for the DVD which will be refunded to you if choose to return it. However, most students like to keep it for future reference.
Although not required, we recommend that all divers have diving insurance. The cost is very low and benefits high. Please take a look here.
