Class Description

Our most popular scuba class but held over two weekends. The weekends do not have to be consecutive.

Step 1:
Pick a start date below and pay for your class. You will receive your e-learning link and access pass within 24 hours (often much quicker)

Step 2:
Complete the e-learning portion of the class in the comfort of your home (or anywhere) If you prefer and book and DVD instead, we can ship these to you or you can pick them up at our store.

Step 3:
Come do the pool session and the four Open Water training dives, it’s all too easy mate!

* There is a class orientation the day before the class to meet your instructor, buy any personal gear that you need and be fitted for your SCUBA for the class. By attending this orientation you will be able to arrive at 8:00am instead of 7:00am the day of your class. The orientation is held any time between 11am and 6:30pm the day before your class and will last approximately 45 min.

Here’s what our typical schedule is like:

Day 1:
At 7:00am* you will meet at the store to hand in your on line course completion form or quizzes from the book. Once these are verified, we will take you straight to the pool and go over all the skills that you will need to know before proceeding to the ocean. The pool session will go until about 1.30pm or until everyone is comfortable with the skills. If you do the E learning program, after the pool session you will do a brief quiz to verify it was you who took the on line class and then you are done for the day around 2pm. If you choose the book and DVD version, you will need to take 4 quizzes and then a final exam and your day will end around 5pm.

Day 2:
You will meet at South Beach Divers at 10:00am for your first two open water dives. We do these dives in the John Pennekamp Marine Sanctuary in Key Largo.  This beautiful location boasts the largest living coral reef in North America. It is also America’s first underwater State Park and has been protected since1960.  We are the only Miami based Dive Center that includes two dives in Key Largo as part of the certification course.  This location is perfect for divers and snorkelers alike so feel free to invite you non- diver friends along with you on this day. Return time is approximately 7:00pm, traffic depending.

Day 3:
On the third and final day, you meet at South Beach Divers at 7:30am to complete your final two open water dives off the coast of Miami Beach. You get to dive on one of the more than 70 shipwrecks that lay right off the coast of Miami. Upon returning (and passing) you will be issued a temporary certification card so you can start diving right away.  We process your PADI certification card online so you will get you temporary card right away. Your permanent license will arrive in as little as 7 days and it can be sent anywhere in the world.  You will now also be qualified to take the PADI Advanced class as well numerous specialty classes like Wreck Diver and Underwater Photographer.  All students that graduate will receive a $50 credit towards the next class if taken within 30 days.
